Richard Hawkins is an artist and writer living in Los Angeles. Recent solo venues have included “Hijikata Twist” at Tate Liverpool (2014); “glimmer” at Consortium, Dijon (2013); “The Third Mind” at Art Institute, Chicago and the UCLA Hammer Museum, Los Angeles” (2010/11) and “Of Two Minds, Simultaneously” deAppel, Amsterdam (2007). He is currently “taking a break” from the artmarket and continues to research the estate of the artist Tony Greene, the early results of which premiered in the 2014 Whitney Biennial in an exhibition co-curated with longtime friend Catherine Opie. His first book of fiction, “Fragile Flowers”, was issued by Les Presses du Reel in 2013. Earlier in 2014 he co-curated the exhibition “Bob Mizer & Tom of Finland” with Bennett Simpson at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles. Otherwise, he currently pollutes the information superhighway from the comfort of his Silver Lake home with Unabomber-like broadcasts of collaged porn, collaborative fiction, Orientalia, paganized psychoanalysis and technology theory from his Tumblr.
