Jon Wagner is a film and media scholar, translator, and poet. With writing partners Dr. Lynne Goodhart, Dr. Tracy Biga MacLean, and Dr. Denise Spampinato, he has published a number of books and articles in literary and cinema studies, including Fugitive Suns: Selected Poetry of Andrée Chedid (Green Integer, 1999), Television at the Movies; Cinematic and Critical Responses to American Broadcasting (Continuum, 2008), and the forthcoming Reality's Written Language: Foundations in Classical and Contemporary Film Theory (Cognella, 2015). Other articles and conference addresses range across authors and auteurs as diverse as Marguerite Duras, Yves Bonnefoy, St.-John Perse, Pier Paolo Pasolini, and Peter Greenaway. In 2010, Wagner was a Visiting Scholar in Film Studies at Beijing Normal University. He is also a Visiting Professor of Film Theory in the School of Cinematic Arts at USC. He co-founded the MFA Writing Program at CalArts in 1994 and continues there as a core faculty member in the School of Critical Studies.
