José Luis Vilson is an activist, writer, and award-winning math teacher for a middle school in the Inwood / Washington Heights neighborhood of New York, NY. He holds a BA in computer science from Syracuse University and a master’s degree in mathematics education from the City College of New York. Vilson is the author of This Is Not A Test: A New Narrative on Race, Class, and Education. His well-regarded blog, TheJoseVilson.com, was listed as one of the top 25 Education Blogs by Scholastic and Education World, and In 2013 he was named one of GOOD Inc.’s GOOD100 leaders changing their worlds.
