Reporter
(reads)
Without making any boast of it, the Reporter succeeded in the course of years, by devouring a number of crime novels and captivity narratives in the late evening and early morning hours, in so diverting from herself her demon, whom she later called The Lemur, that her demon, freed from the task of tormenting the Reporter, thereupon set out on the maddest exploits and, consequently, due to the lack of a preordained object, which should have been the Reporter herself, scanned other women at random for its prey. Free and safe, the Reporter followed the demon on its prowls, perhaps from a sense of responsibility, perhaps from mere curiosity.
